Lenovo’s smart TV business has rebranded to 17TV and launched its first model 55S9i. Its operating system is based on YunOS, the custom Android system developed by Alibaba’s Aliyun division. It’s now available on Alibaba’s Tmall for pre-order.

PPTV-50P, a smart TV recently launched by online video company PPTV, has made its debut on the online store of Suning, the leading electronics retail chain and the largest shareholder in PPTV.

Like LeTV, PPTV has developed a customized Android system for the device and charges an annual fee for content and services.

Users are able to purchase goods on the Suning’s online store on the TV. Those who activate their Suning accounts will be exempt from content subscription fees and receive monthly cash rewards for shopping on the Suning store.

PPTV turns ten this month. Recently it announced partnership with Xiaomi to provide video content to the smart devices of the latter. Suning invested US$250 million for a 44% stake in PPTV in 2013.

Alibaba-backed e-commerce solution provider Baozun begins trading on the NASDAQ today.


Wearable developer AltoTech announces Series A funding led by DFJ DragonFund China and joined by Tianxing CapitalSinvo Capital and Fenda. A Google Glass-style wearable developed by AltoTech will be produced by iPhone manufacturer Foxconn, according to the company.


Equity crowdfunding site Zhongtoubang announced Series B round of funding led by Co-win Capital.


CRM software developer Yi Chuang has received RMB15 million (about US$2.4m) Series A funding from Will Hunting Capital. (via Lieyunwang)
