Leview Mobile HK Ltd. , the smartphone business of LeTV (Leshi) established in early 2015, will acquire an 18% stake in smartphone maker Coolpad Group Ltd. (HK:2369) for HK$2.7 billion (about US$353m), becoming the second largest shareholder in the latter, Coolpad announced yesterday.
Coolpad has also established a smartphone joint venture with Qihoo 360. Called QiKU, the JV is producing low-cost Android phones based on Dazen, formerly the high-end Android phone brand of Coolpad.
