Xiaomi launches a water purifier. Like other gadgets of Xiaomi family, the water purifier can connect to smartphones. Through Mi Home app, the mobile app for Xiaomi smart home devices, your family members will be able to monitor water quality in real time and receive alerts when the filter needs to be replaced (Filters are available for purchase within the app). It retails for RMB1299 (US$209).

The company also launched today Mi TV 2S, a 48-inch 4K smart TV. It comes with two models that cost RMB2999 (US$483) and RMB3999 (US$644), respectively.

Didi Kuaidi launches commuter bus service in Beijing (30+ routes) and Shenzhen (10+ routes).

There has been a number of Chariot-like commuter shuttle services in China, and several have raised venture capital, including Dada Bus (Series A), GBus (Seed), Jiewo (Seed) and Hollo (Seed).

Ali Baichuan, the mobile app developer program of Alibaba Group launched nine months ago, announces a RMB1 billion (about US$160m) venture capital fund and RMB1 billion short-term loan program targeting mobile app startups.

Cloud computing service provider Inspur announces to build seven data centers across China with a RMB10 billion (US$1.6b) budget. (via Sina Tech)

Baidu’s food delivery app adds pharmaceutical delivery by partnering with third-parties such as one-hour delivery service Medicine Power. (via Techweb)

Meituan, the leading group-buying service, is adding this category, too.

It was reported earlier that the food delivery service would be spun off from Baidu and had begun raising outside capital.
