Xiaomi shipped more than 70 million smartphones in 2015.

The company is establishing a research lab focused on virtual reality and robotic technologies.

Mobile accounts for 55% of the total e-commerce transaction value in China for 2015, up from 33% a year ago, according to internet market research firm iResearch. The figure was a mere 1.5% in 2011.

The total mobile commerce sales were RMB2100 billion (roughly US$320bn) in 2015, an increase of 123% from the previous year.

Music streaming services Kugou and Kuwo has reached a sub-licensing deal with QQ Music, the digital music business of Tencent, that will give the former access to more than one million songs.

Kugou and Kuwo, both being part of Omusic, claim to have had a catalog of approximately 20 million songs. (via Sina Tech)

Alibaba announced to rebrand its mobile gaming business 9Game as Alibaba Games which will operate as an independent company.

9Game was established in 2009 by UC Web, the mobile browser developer that was acquired by Alibaba Group in 2014.

Amazon China has received a license to operate as an ocean freight forwarder in the United States. — Reuters
