Maoyan (“Cat Eye”), the movie ticketing app developed by Meituan, the leading group-buying and local services platform, has signed up more than 5000 movie theaters across China and a user base of more than 100 million consumers, according to an internal email by founder Wang Xing.

Launched in 2012, the app turned profitable last month.

Maoyan has made investments in or helped promoted more than 30 Chinese movies. (via DoNews)


Huoli, the Chinese developer behind popular flight tracking app Flights Manager and Bullet Train Manager (not official translation), has secured RMB933 million (US$144M) in Series C round of financing from a group of investors from China’s airline and travel industries.

The company generated a gross merchandise volume of approximately RMB20 billion (US$3B) in 2015. (via Pedaily)
